All About Lips: Swatches & Dupes

If you know me at all, it's no secret that lip products are my weakness. Lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, lip crayons, lip balms, everything. I will be the first to admit I own way too many, but to be fair, I do wear different colors all the time. If I could only wear one makeup item for the rest of my life, it would be a bright colored lip. Reds, oranges, pinks, purples, nudes, grays... I have quite the range. A popular task within the beauty community is to 'dupe' more expensive products; i.e. find a cheaper version of the product that looks and performs the same. My go-to for finding new ones is K & L, the two lovely girls behind the brand DupeThat (here is their Instagram, take a look!), but I wanted to find some of my own, and within my own collection. Not all of these are exact dupes, I want to add: they either will differ in formula (such as a regular lipstick versus a liquid) or they differ in shade, but only one or two shades. I tried to keep these as close as I could, so let's get into it!

Rimmel: As I was editing this post I realize that this color might have been discontinued because I can't find it! I still want to put it in here because if you can find it, it's a perfect dupe.

There you have it! Dupes and swatches and colors of the similar tone of some of my favorite lip products, that I personally own! I hope these help you out or give you some inspiration for some new colors you want! Let me know in the comments which colors are your favorite!

March 2017 Favorites

Hello everyone! Now that I have officially completed my winter term of college (and am going a bit easier on classes for spring term), I have more time now to be able to update this blog and post more content for you guys to see, and hopefully enjoy! So why not start out with a favorites for the month of March? Also, how are we already at the end of March?! I do love spring and warm weather, and although Oregon hasn't had much of that lately, I am excited for things to come. For this month, not only am I bringing you the beauty & skincare items I've enjoyed, but I'm also going to be adding my Top 5 songs of the month at the end of the post! Hopefully that'll be a permanent addition to my favorites post from now on; let's get started!

I have been eyeing this palette for quite some time now, but didn't think I would put it to enough use to weigh out the price of it. While my Dad & I were in Portland, he got it for me from Ulta, and I am so glad he did! I can't get over how stunning this is; the colors are so pigmented & blendable. I have created so many looks with it thus far, and the brush it comes with (not pictured here, as I was washing it) is actually great as well. My favorite shade is Buon Fresco!

I heard about this shampoo from one of my favorite YouTubers, JkissaMakeup, who was even kind enough to respond to my question on Twitter about this item before I decided to buy it. I have VERY oily hair; I don't know how it got this way, but it is, and I hate it. She said this has significantly helped her oily hair, and gave it volume, which is exactly what it does! I use it every other time I wash my hair, and bonus: it smells like tropical fruit!

Let me tell you one thing right now... I did not want to spend the money I did on this. $70 for a face mask is crazy! My skin has been really problematic lately, with lots of breakouts (which is super uncommon for me, I never break out severely), so I gave into the hype and purchased it. It goes on a dark gray, but when it's completely dry, it turns light gray with tons of black dots all over your face (which is the charcoal sucking the stuff out of your pores). It's so interesting & fun to do, but I save it for a once-a-week treat. It's improved the look and feel of my skin; I'll definitely repurchase!

Yet another overly expensive product... I'm ridiculous, I know. I bit the bullet and purchased this from Sephora to try and help my skin, along with the UFO Oil that goes with it (I returned the oil, as it seemed to do nothing to my skin, plus it was $80). I LOVE the smell of this stuff, which is funny because all the reviews had that as a negative, but it smells like lemongrass. The consistency is so strange, but it feels incredible & cooling as I apply it to my skin. It's definitely improved my skin as well, and helped with the oiliness I had. I really do love this stuff, as much as it hurts to say it, and I will be repurchasing once I'm out.

I hate that this color was limited edition and is no longer available, because I want to buy 10 more bottles. Kathleen is quite possibly my favorite YouTuber, and she recently released her own line of cruelty-free nail polish! This sparkly shade is named after her catchphrase, and I can't get enough of it. I'm usually much too lazy to pain my nails, so when I have nail polish on, you know I love it. I've worn this shade for TWO WEEKS STRAIGHT and there were no chips. Um, what?! I can't wait to purchase all of her other shades and support my girl!

The Ultra Satin lips from Colourpop are some of my favorite liquid lipsticks, and that's saying something considering how many I own. They don't dry down completely matte & they're not transfer proof, which makes them super comfy. This color particularly is a favorite; it's a peachy nude that matches my natural lip color perfectly!

Top 5 Songs of March!

1) Liability by Lorde
2) Feel It Still by Portugal the Man
3) Tired of Talking by L√ČON
4) Firelight by Young the Giant
5) The entire new Beauty & the Beast soundtrack (sorry not sorry)

I hope you guys enjoyed my favorite for the month of March! I'm looking forward to April and what new things it brings!

Golden Globes 2017: Best Dressed

It's the most wonderful time of the year again, folks! No, not Christmas (although I did have a lovely one and I hope whoever celebrated did too!). It's red carpet award season! AKA, my very favorite time of year. Last night in Los Angeles was the Golden Globes; the start of the season. We all know that the major talk of the night is not just who took home those beautiful golden statues, but who looked the best doing it. A little disclaimer: I know everyone has different opinions, per usual, so who I think look the best might have looked the worst in someone else's opinion. These are in no particular order, so let's get down to it!

This red carpet was filled with incredible fashion and incredible women. Here's to the next award show, and the style that comes with it!

OOTD: G-Eazy Concert (04/08/16)

Last week, me and one of my best friends had the privilege of being able to see one of our favorite performers live, G-Eazy! G, better known as Gerald, is a rapper from the Bay Area who's finally getting the fame & recognition he deserves. I drove up to the valley for the weekend, and had a wonderful time with my friends. In true Hannah fashion, I of course documented our outfits! We may or may not have gone shopping a few hours before the show, but that's beside the point. We had so much fun, and the show made me love G even more!

2016 Academy Awards: My Picks For Best Dressed

Sunday night was the night every actor and actress dreams about; The 88th Annual Academy Awards! Seeing that I shared my favorite looks of the night last year, I thought I'd do it again! This year's red carpet was filled with so much beauty, I could hardly contain my excitement. Stunning gowns, intricate makeup looks, and new hairdos bombarded the evening, and I loved every minute of it. Here's my top five favorites!

Saoirse Ronan

It's been like three days and I am still not over this Calvin Klein dress. It's such a stunning color on such a stunning woman! I'm a big fan of Saoirse, and she was Best Dressed of the night in my book.

Brie Larson

A huge congratulations to Brie for taking home the Best Actress Oscar! Room was a truly exceptional film, and this Gucci dress just made me smile. The color was something we didn't see on anyone else, and all of her add ons made it perfect for her fun personality.

Daisy Ridley

Oh my goodness, my love for this woman is insane! I adore Daisy, and this Chanel gown killed me. She might have only been a presenter, but she truly shined on the carpet!

Margot Robbie

Margot looked like a real-life Oscar, and I love it. She is so beautiful, and this gold Tom Ford gown fit her perfectly. Like Daisy, she was just a presenter, but this look is incredible!

Alicia Vikander

Alicia was a big winner on Sunday night, taking home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Danish Girl. Her custom made yellow Louis Vuitton number reminded me of Belle from Beauty & the Beast, and I love it!

Right after the Academy Awards every year, the big party to be seen at is Vanity Fair's Oscar Party. Everyone who is someone seems to be there, so I thought I would also share my favorite looks from the event as well!

Taylor Swift

I feel like this dress, is the Blank Space version of Taylor, brought to life. This is a Alexandre Vauthier Couture piece, and she looks so badass. I love Taylor regardless, but this is a good change from her normal style!

Lorde

This Monique Lhullier gown needs to be in my closet ASAP. The tulle and beading are so beautiful, and it's such a edgy/girly look. Lorde was Taylor's date down the carpet, and she looked incredible!

Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee looks like a gosh darn princess in this Elie Saab dress! Black is usually a safe choice to go with, but this is another edgy gown that I really love.

Diane Krueger

Diane is one of my biggest influences when it comes to fashion, and this dress did not disappoint me. It's a stunning Reem Acra gown; it almost looks like lingerie, and I adore it.

Lily Collins

Another look that I'm not over quite yet. Lily rocked this gold Saint Laurent gown, and was picture perfect. My pick for Best Dressed at the after party!

Tell me your favorite looks from the night in the comments below!

January 2016 Favorites

It's my first 2016 favorites post! I know it might be a bit late, but better late than never, right? This month was filled with lots of fun and adventure, and lots of new discoveries! Without further ado, let's get started!

It's no secret that I love music. I have been finding and loving so many new songs lately, that I thought I would bring a new feature to my monthly favorites post: A monthly playlist, straight from my Spotify! The list will consist of my 10 favorite songs of the month, and I'm excited to share with you all my first one.

As you might be able to tell, Oh Wonder was a big favorite this month. I saw them in concert, and have been playing them nonstop. Wanna know what I wore? Check out my last post, here!

Now for the rest of my favorites of the month!

I absolutely love these jeans, but I put them in here as a little tribute: right before class one day, they ripped right in the worst spot possible and are now unwearable. I am very sad, because these jeans are basically perfect. They're so comfy and go with everything, and they will be truly missed. I did purchase another pair, but I purchased a high waisted pair in the same color!

I am still in shock that I was able to purchase this palette. With it being highly praised by so many people and being noted as YouTuber Jaclyn Hill's favorite palette, it is ALWAYS out of stock. When Jaclyn posted on her Snapchat saying that it was available, I dropped what I was doing and purchased it. With the 10% discount code that Jaclyn has for being an affiliate with Morphe, it came out to about $30 (including shipping). When I received it, I was blown away: this palette is stunning. You get 35 buttery, blendable eyeshadows all in the warm family. I am absolutely obsessed, and I hope to have a tutorial inspired by this guy going up sometime this month!

I'm the girl who likes to have things written down and planned out, so this Christmas gift from my Dad is wonderful. It's such a pretty Tiffany blue color, and the inside is gold & cream. It's been so beneficial for school, and I love it!

I've used this stuff for years, so why I'm just now putting it in a favorites is beyond me! Here in Oregon, the weather lately has been cold, leaving my pale legs dry as hell. When I use this body butter, it literally transforms my legs and moisturizes them so deeply. It smells of mangos, too, which is one of my favorite scents. Any scent from the body butter range is great, though!

Since it's a new year, and since the snow hasn't been too awful here in Oregon, I've been taking advantage of the weather and going running a bit. I am by no means an actual runner (I usually run out of breath walking up stairs to be honest), but I've been enjoying getting outside and being active. My Dad purchased these beautiful shoes for me from our local Nike outlet, so they weren't as spendy as the actual Nike website, but I think they're worth it either way. I adore these shoes; they're so comfortable, and so cushiony. Not to mention, the classic black and white is adorable. If you're looking for new running shoes, I suggest checking out Nike!

That's it for January, guys. I hope the first month of your year has been wonderful, and I will see you with my next set of favorites at the end of February!
